Jay's Summer Camp - Week 2

After five days of sun, fun, games, and activities, our wonderful campers are getting ready for more weeks of great activities at Jay’s Camp 2010. As we settle into the summer, I want all the parents to know how committed all of our staff is to each and every child. All of us at Jay’s Camp will build self-esteem for every child. We want to make sure that all campers go home with a smile on his or her face and feel good about themselves.

On the buses this week we celebrated the upcoming 4th of July holiday with Red, White, and Blue day. Camper’s also enjoyed trivia bus programming all week!

DAY CAMP NEWSLETTER – WEEK 2

Dear Day Campers, Parents and Families,

3…2…1…BLAST OFF!!!! We had another fantastic week at Jay’s Camp, filled with lots of fun in the sun! Our week was jam-packed with all of our regular activities, specials, and a few extra special surprises. I am so proud of all my Day Campers for excelling at each and every activity they try, whether it is music, dance, gymnastics, art, pottery, the climbing tower, etc. The Day Campers are working so hard in swimming, and we have had many children pass to the next swim group already! I couldn’t be more proud of all the children for trying every activity, game, and sport each day at camp. The Day Campers are also learning how to be great friends to each other, and they are forming friendships with all of the children in their groups.

A huge highlight of the week was our trip through outer space and our walk on the moon! The Day Campers enjoyed a story about outer space at the beginning of the week, and each group began constructing their very own spaceship. Each group worked together to put the finishing touches on their spaceships on Wednesday, and then the entire unit had a countdown to BLAST OFF! The Day Campers had a fantastic time traveling through outer space and visiting the planets! Our Day Camp tent was converted into the “moon” and the children had a blast learning how to moonwalk! We met some nice alien friends who shared some special outer space treats with us, and then we made our way back to Earth in time for a popsicle at the end of the day.

NEXT WEEK … Get excited for our annual CrAzY Olympics week at Jay’s Camp! The Day Campers will participate in lots of fun and silly games and relays throughout the week!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! I am excited to invite all Day Camp parents and family members to our DAY CAMP PARENT DAY! We welcome you to join us for an afternoon of special Day Camp performances by your children and some fun activities for you to participate in with your Day Camper! We hope you will be able to join us on Monday, July 12 at 12:30 pm.

Parents, please feel free to contact me at anytime at camp if you have any questions or concerns! My staff and I are having a fabulous time at camp with your children each day, and the summer has been off to an amazing start!

DC BOYS – Kindergarten

NICK’S BLUE ROCKETS

So far week two has been full of adventure!  Here in Day Camp, we traveled through space and explored the moon. We've also had many close exciting games. Zach M. scored a hat trick to lead his team to victory. It was a close game, 1-1, until Zach destroyed the competition! Zach was not the only star this week.  He could not have led his team to victory without a little help.  Gabe L. provided the assists for two of Zach's three goals.  Gabe really shined at Jay’s Stadium this week! The two of them together took control of the game, and what a game it was! Can’t wait for more fun and games next week!

DC GIRLS – Kindergarten

JORI’S BUNNIES

What a great second week for the Bunnies! We did so many fun activities throughout this past week. During pottery we painted our candy bowls that we made last week and they looked awesome! We also made puppets at art that the girls seemed to really enjoy. A new activity we got to do was the climbing tower, and it was great to see every girl in the group try it! At basketball, we shot some hoops and Madelyn S. got a basket! Great job! The girls still love to swim, and during swim lessons, Clara K. was able to do her back float all by herself!  We are so proud of you! This week was also outer space week and we went to the moon! We built and painted a group rocket and flew to the moon, where we saw aliens who gave us treats. We also did the moonwalk! It was a busy and exciting week, and I cannot wait to see what next week will bring us!

DC BOYS – 1ST GRADE

RYAN’S BLACKHAWKS

As week two rolled around, I definitely saw some friendly competition heat up between the campers. This week at camp, Mitchell R. was the first in our group to reach the top of the climbing wall. Awesome job! I was also extremely proud of Micah G. when he scored two goals in team soccer earlier in the week! Sean G. was the anchor on his relay race team to lead them to the gold. We couldn’t have done it without him! I know that the Blackhawks will continue their athletic output for the next week! Great job this week!

COLLIN’S COYOTES

Wow campers, the second week of camp is already over!! This summer is already flying by and all campers are really having fun and doing great things at camp. This week was an amazing week for the coyotes. This week Jonathan S. was the only camper for the coyotes to climb all the way to the top of the climbing wall. It truly was amazing to watch Jonathan make it to the top, so easily without even breaking a sweat. Jonathan has been showing explosive energy every day at camp, and if he can keep this up he is going to be able to complete every activity in no time, just like he did with the climbing wall. We also had another camper this week that was very successful in the swimming pool. Jacob V. moved up a level from green to red on swimming this week. This week he worked really hard in swimming, and now he is already swimming at a red level!! Which means he gets to go down the water slide as much as he wants. If Jacob keeps working this hard in swimming he is going to become the next Michael Phelps. This week was an awesome week for the coyotes, and every camper is having so much fun. The coyotes are already showing that this is going to be a great summer, and I look forward having another amazing week with the coyotes and having so much fun!!

DC GIRLS – 1ST GRADE

ALLI’S ANIMALS

Our second week of camp flew by! The Animals decorated a rocketship for our trip to outer space and even walked on the moon! Zosia P. was fast as lightning as she zipped by on the petal cars this week! We also finished making our clay pots in pottery, and Brooklyn R. did a beautiful job painting hers! Great job girls! The Animals had such a fun week! I'm sure we"ll have a blast next week too!
