Dear Parents and Children,

I can’t believe that the first four weeks are over! I am very sad to say goodbye to all of the boys and girls who are leaving on Friday. I am very happy though that many campers will remain at Jay’s for six or eight weeks.

Looking Forward to Next Year

Each and every year parents come and ask me “Jay, how long are you going to run Jay’s? After all, you have been here for 26 years.” The answer is simple, Jay’s camp is my life. Each year I look forward to investing myself in my camp. I gain fulfillment from seeing smiles on my camper’s faces. I consider myself very lucky to be able to do something which I enjoy.

Next year, I will do everything in my power to make our fee structure among the most competitive of all camps on the North Shore. Please take advantage of the first early discount in October. By sending in a small deposit, you will receive a large, early discount. The October discount will only be offered one time and it will be the largest discount you can receive.

Referral Discount

Jay is the only private camp which offers a discount for referring new campers. A certificate will be mailed to you in October. The more children you refer, the larger the discount. This is my way of lessoning the financial burden to you in these tough economic times.

I am looking forward to the next four weeks. There will be many new and exciting programs for the second four weeks. Jay’s Carnival and Jay’s Olympics are just a few of the exciting programs awaiting your child for the second four weeks. We will also be asking your child to bring a clean white t-shirt for tye-dying.

Lost and Found

There still remains quite a few items which have gone unclaimed from our lost and found. Please feel free to come to camp and look for your child’s lost articles or you may send a note and we will do our best to locate it.

                                  Until next week,

                                         Jay

Sports Camp TNT

What a week! Week 4 at Jays was better than any other. We started off doing this right and spending a whole day a Kristoffs. Go-Carts, Mini-Golf, and the batting cages were all top spots during the day. In the game room, if I were to guess, sports camp probably won over 3,000 tickets. Then on Wednesday, we had free swim most of the morning, followed by one of the best Wild Wild West days at Jays ever. Great 4 weeks fellas, let’s keep it going for the next session!!

Sports Camp 2nd Grade

Jon's Team X

Alex E. has contributed to our group in many ways this year. In addition to the smile that is on Alex's face 24/7, he is always one of the first campers to volunteer to help when the group needs it! Last week during soccer leagues Alex was a part of a great defense and helped shut out our opponent.

Justin O. has been a great camper this summer and has really a great attitude about everything. The other day, Justin was competing with another camper in skee-ball. Justin ended up winning thanks to the two balls he rolled for 50 points.

Cole P. enjoys the miniature golf course just as much as any other camper. It’s obvious by how good he is compared to everyone else in the group. He shoots extremely well in the 9 hole course and even got a hole in one on hole number 9!

Jack T. always comes to camp loaded with energy. He tackles every activity with 110% effort and is always competing. During music class, Jack won 2 different games which asked him to repeat patterns, and also to add onto it constantly.

Levi W. excels at the obstacle course. Levi's athletic abilities are just about endless, as he is always doing very well no matter what the sport/game the group is playing.

Sports Camp 3rd Grade

Zack's Soda Pop

It's sad to say, but the first half of camp is officially over. Looking back on the past four weeks, I have enjoyed my time with my group, whatever it was that we were doing. I am excited for the next session, especially because all of the group will be returning for what I expect will be an amazing second session!

Adams Blackhawks
This week was a very busy one for the Blackhawks! It started in the Jump-Shot/Spaceball where Collin C. owned the court! Great job Collin! As our week continued on to Kristoff's, it was our newest group member Max R. who teamed up with Matt R. to completely clean out the arcade leaving no tickets for anyone else! They had tickets coming out of their ears! Someone please put these men in the record books!  As the week closed Alex R. continued his Reign of Terror over the Gaga Pits! What a week! Great first 4 weeks boys

Sports Camp 4th Grade

Silver's Hawks

Wow! I can't believe the first four weeks here at Jay's Camp have gone by so fast! The Hawks have done some incredible things over the course of this first session and along the way have become an even more impressive group of young men. To start us off this week, Ryan N. had some clutch hits as the Hawks took on the 5th graders in baseball! Those hits propelled us to the early lead in that contest...way to go Ryan! In that same game Ethan R. had two amazing catches to keep the 5th graders scoreless through the first three innings as we took the underdog role and shocked the 5th graders with the early lead. This game will be finished later next week. I do want to say what a pleasure it has been to watch these boys collectively have one of the best summers yet here at Jay's Camp. If the second four weeks here at Jay's Camp are as good as the first four, then I already know that this will be the best summer in the history of Jay's Camp. Thanks again for the great start fellas...we're only halfway home!!

Joes Scorpions
Another great week down and the kids are playing stronger than ever. Joey L. and Tommy Y. teamed up in an effort to stop everyone in their tracks on the volleyball court, and that's just what they did. J. D. A. Knew that gaga was going to rough in the hot weather but nothing kept him from eliminating his competition. This week we traveled out to Kristoff’s where Scottie was able to out score anyone who challenged him to a bowl, if only they knew he was a ringer. Robert M. and Paul S. knew just what games would score them the most tickets so they could return to camp with the biggest prizes. Congratulations everyone!!!!

Sports Camp 5th Grade

Mike Ursin's Jayhawks
Hello parents and campers with this week sadly being the half way point here at Jay's we are losing almost the entire group. I sure had a blast this summer this was my second year at camp and it was even more fun then my first. A couple campers really stood out from the rest this week, Brett G. and i had a chance to ride the go carts together at Kristoff's and we dominated the race! if Brett's counting was right we passed nine people! During hockey Frank W. really helped his team by playing flawless goalie. In the twenty five minute Frank didn't allow a single goal. On Tuesday for free choice the kids chose Nukem (its a variation of volleyball for those who don't know) Elliot K. took the lead role on his team leading them to victory three times without being eliminated.  And finally on Monday during archery Wilder S. In three consecutive shots hit not just the target but he hit the inner-ring twice and just missed it the third shot, way to go Robin Hood! Sadly with a great percentage of the hawks only being four week campers. This will be the last message from the Hawks, I really enjoyed the year guys and I hope to see all of you guys back next year!

Albert's Troublemakers

If I've ever seen an end to a first four week session this was it! The display of talent and character put on by the troublemakers was truly inspirational! In the Albert vs. Silver games Garret G. blasted there homeruns in one game en route to a 5th grade victory! While Garret supplied the offense, Matthew M. supplied the defense. Matt made sparkling plays at short stop and in left field, diving left and right to catch balls! In the pool Justin G. swam like Michael Phelps as he passed a level in swimming! Speaking of Michaels, Michael L. was unstoppable in the Dodgeball arena! He was throwing people out all day and was always the last man standing! Last, I would like to give a shout out to my boy Noah C. who is in New York right now. Come home Noah, we miss you bud! All in all these four weeks at Jay's were some of the best in my life. I encourage all the troublemakers to extend another four weeks so we can have even more awesome experiences!

Sports Camp 6th to 8th Grade

Mike Watkins
The Crew

The end is coming for the first four week campers my how the time has flown. I wish we had more time together but unfortunately our time is limited but I hope you all had lots of fun and got to do everything you wanted. One individual I would like to point out in particular would be Gary B. for helping me with translating for Slava M. who only speaks Russian. Gary has helped me communicate many things to him. Thank you Gary. In baseball George S., Jake H., and Isaac L. have been really playing well. All three are very fast and hit the ball incredibly well. These guys are awesome baseball players. Zev C. was great in gaga getting many people out and staying in the longest almost every time. Keep it up Zev. Let me tell you a little something about Derek J. he is one of the sweetest boys and will listen to everything you tell him. He always helps out in activities we do and helps keep everyone in the group stay positive. Thank you Derek for being such a great camper. Thank you to my entire group for being such an amazing group I'm having lots of fun and I hope you are too.

Ks Swagdaddys
Its week four here at Jays and once again the Swagdaddies have come to play. With a trip to Kristoff's and Wild West Day on the schedule for the week, the Excitement is in the air! Randall G. recently soared to new heights in Nukum with some great diving catches and deadly serves. Great job Randall! Awesome first four week’s guys! I can't wait to start session two!
