DAY CAMP NEWSLETTER – WEEK FIVE
Dear Day Campers, Parents and Families,
This week was a super fun start to our second session of camp! The Day Campers were very excited to welcome all of our new friends to Jay’s Camp. Each group bonded with their new additions and they each came up with a brand new group name. The Day Campers did a great job helping our new friends get accustomed to Jay’s Camp.
The Day Campers had many fun surprises at camp this week. Our theme for the week was Dr. Seuss, and we had a great time reading and exploring many silly Dr. Seuss books. After reading The Cat in the Hat, the Day Campers heard that the cat himself would be visiting Jay’s Camp on Wednesday. The Cat in the Hat brought along his friends, Thing 1 and Thing 2, and they left silly rhyming clues all over camp to help us figure out where they were hiding. All of the Day Campers had a fantastic time on this fun scavenger hunt! After we read Green Eggs and Ham on Friday, the Day Campers had the opportunity to make and taste their own green eggs, just like Sam-I-Am! We had such a fun and silly Dr. Seuss week!
Next week…get excited for Jay’s Camp’s annual OLYMPICS! The children will be split into different countries and they will participate in a variety of Olympic events throughout the week, including running, jumping, swimming, throwing, gymnastics, tug-of-war, etc. We will have our opening ceremony on Monday, and we can’t wait!
It is so hard to believe that the summer is more than half way over…the Day Campers have been having so much fun in the sun at Jay’s Camp and we are making memories to last a lifetime!
Parents, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at camp (847-438-2267).
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, DAY CAMPERS! SEE YOU ON MONDAY FOR LOTS MORE FUN!!

NICK’S MARSHMALLOWS
Week 5 has been an unforgettable one, with the Cat in the Hat visiting Jays Camp it will never be forgotten. We also had the opportunity to participate in many sports. One athlete that truly stood out this week was a man named Brandon S. Brandon is a dominant force on the basketball court. One of the few day campers with the power and strength to shoot on the 10 ft. rim from almost anywhere on the court. Brandon is a name we may hear in the future. What an impressive display, way to go Brandon!
MIKE’S RAINBOW DRAGONS
Hello parents and campers with week five being the start of the second session here at Jay's Camp, we had to say goodbye a few campers and hello to a some new ones. This week has been going great, on Monday we read Cat In The Hat during story time which is important because the Cat himself came to visit later in the week on Wednesday and of course he brought thing one and thing two with him! The Cat lead all the campers through a list of clues to where his hiding spot was until he finally revealed himself near our tent. The Rainbow dragon's sure had a blast! We also got to enjoy art class this week, the campers created picture frames and added anything from gems to baseballs to their frames to truly customize and make them unique. One camper who really put a lot of effort into his project was Oscar W. Oscar's frame was full on color and design he sure does have some art skills! With all the exciting activities planned for these upcoming weeks we can hardly wait talk to your next week. -Counselor Mike-
DC GIRLS – Kindergarten
JORI’S BUMBLEBEES
What a great start to the second session of camp! Although our group did not have any new girls join, Day Camp in general got many knew boys and girls we were able to meet. Because it is second session, we got to make a new name for our group and we chose to be Jori’s Bumble Bee’s. The girls got to decorate a sign for our table and it looks great. This week at camp was Dr. Seuss week and we got to do many fun activities. We read a Dr. Seuss book, and made Dr. Seuss hats. On Wednesday, Thing 1, Thing 2, and Dr. Seuss made a visit through Jay’s Camp and we spent the day looking for clues to find him. We also continued our other fun activities like art, pottery, climbing tower, and swimming. Maddy S. has been doing a great job practicing going all the way under water in swimming! Clara K. was determined to get to the top of the climbing tower this week and nearly made it all the way up! Great job girls! The Bumble Bee’s have done great this week and I once again can’t wait for next week to see what else these girls can accomplish!

RYAN’S WHITE SOX
It's week five and the summer is going by fast. Eli G kicked four goals, with one being a header, in route to victory. Jack P had a hat trick matching his career high for goals scored! Mario P played stellar defense to help his team record a shutout. The campers are really starting to show their athletic skills in this past week.
COLLIN’S CHICAGO BULLS
Welcome back campers and new campers to the second session at Jay’s Camp!! This is the first week back to our second session, and we have already been fortunate enough to have two new campers Daniel K and Jonathan A. These two campers have made a great tribute to the bulls and we are very excited to have them. This week has already been a great week for getting two new campers, but there have also been many other great things that have happened to the bulls. This week Sean G has moved up a level in swimming from green to red. Sean has been working really hard and passed his test with flying colors. He now gets to go down the water slide as many times as he wants! If Sean can keep up the good work before we know it he is going to become a lifeguard. Also this week one of our new campers has shown us some new extraordinary talent. Jonathan Adler has showed us what dancing really means. During dance class he was grooving with the music and showing some pretty hard moves on the dance floor. If Jonathan keeps his dancing up I know that we will see him on So You Think You Can Dance. The Chicago Bulls have already started of to a great second session, and has been showing everyone how much fun we are having. I am excited for next week, because I know it is only going to get better at Jay’s Camp.

it was Dr. Seuss week! We went on a scavenger hunt to find the Cat in the Hat and we made green eggs! Ashley G. hit a home run in tee ball and Natalie H. was outstanding as she tumbled and leaped in gymnastics. Great job girls! I can't wait to see everyone for another exciting week at camp!
