DAY CAMP NEWSLETTER – WEEK SIX

Dear Day Campers, Parents and Families,

What an exciting week we had at Jay’s Camp! Not only are all of the boys and girls excelling at all of their regular weekly activities and specials, but the Day Campers also did a fabulous job competing during Jay’s Olympics this week! The children were split into 5 different countries, USA, China, Italy, Israel, and Greece. Each team participated in a variety of athletic competitions during the Olympic events. We participated in running races, a basketball dribbling competition, throwing events, swimming relay races, and much more. The children did a fantastic job in each of the events that they participated in. They had a tremendous amount of sportsmanship and spirit for their teams, and I am so proud of them for a job well done!

Next week . . . get excited for lots of fun and surprises during the 7th week of camp! We have our annual Jay’s Carnival on Wednesday! The children will have the opportunity to play lots of fun games, enjoy carnival treats, dunk their counselors in the dunk tank, etc.

Parents, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at camp (847-438-2267). I will get back to you just as soon as I can!

HAVE A SUPER FUN WEEKEND, DAY CAMPERS!

NICK’S MARSHMALLOWS
Six weeks have gone by quick, with something to look forward to each and every week. This week is my favorite week due to Jay’s Olympics. With a week’s worth of different athletic competitions, each child gets the opportunity to show off their talents. There have been countless children that have absolutely amazed us. One in particular is a speed demon by the name of Gabe L. Gabe participated in the 100-yard dash against other kindergarten children in the different countries. Gabe ran across that field in a matter of seconds, like a flash of lighting. He nearly ran out of his shoes to recieve 1st place, way go to Gabe! Great job to all of the Marshmallows during Olympic week! Have a fun weekend!

MIKE’S RAINBOW DRAGONS
Hello, parents and campers! Welcome to week six here at Jay’s. This week sure has been exciting so far, the main theme this week is Olympics! The Day Campers, along with SAC camp and Sports camp, were divided into different countries and asked to represent them in a series of events. So far this week we have competed in Gymnastics, Swim relay race, foot races, and the basketball dribble contest. All the campers have shown unbelievable talent, teamwork, and most importantly sportsmanship. Also this week on Tuesday the SAC and Sports campers went on a field trip so us day campers had the run of the entire camp just to ourselves! We were able to swim not twice but three times, and during instructional swim Mark S. really perfected the front crawl, he looked like a little Michael Phelps gliding across the top of the water! Additionally on Tuesday we were able to have several free choice activities that the campers were able to choose anything in camp to do. This week has been so much fun! Until next week…counselor Mike saying good bye!

DC GIRLS – Kindergarten

JORI’S BUMBLEBEES
Wow, I cannot believe the sixth week is already over! The week flew by while we enjoyed our fun activities along with Jay’s Camp Olympics. The girls were split up into different teams to represent their country. They had so much fun as they ran races, dribbled basketballs, showed off their gymnastic skills and even did relays in the pool! We also made beautiful frames in art and painted our ducks and handprints in pottery. This week we had both Caroline R and Angela G pass from green in swimming to red! Great job girls! All of Jori’s Bumblebees have been doing a great job and working hard! I can’t wait to see what the last two weeks will bring us!

RYAN’S WHITE SOX
Week 6 has come to a close and the summer is slowly coming to an end. Mitchell R scored 3 goals in hockey earlier this week. He also won the relay race for his Olympic team! Great job, Mitch! Micah G won the swim relay race for his country’s team. Sam V dominated in dodge ball yesterday beating out all of the counselors! Awesome job to the White Sox this week!!

COLLIN’S CHICAGO BULLS
Wow campers, the sixth week of camp is over and all we have left at camp is two more fun weeks!! This summer has really been flying by, and all of the Chicago Bulls are having so much fun and doing great things at camp. There have already been many bulls showing great effort and being very successful. This week Josh G did such a great job swimming that he moved up a level from green to red. Josh has been working really hard and had no problems passing his test. If Josh keeps this up he will be a blue in no time! Another camper who has shown great athleticism in our Olympic week is Jacob V.  Jacob first started the day with winning the basketball dribble contest doing 160 dribbles in one minute! Then at the end of the day, Jacob showed that he still was not tired and won the 200-yard dash in the Olympic games. Jacob has really been successful at sports and if he keeps this up he is actually going to be in the Olympics one day. Another Bull that has shown great improvement since starting at camp six weeks ago is Jonathan S. This week during our Olympics week he strived in gymnastics and showed great work on the balance beam and didn’t even fall. Jonathan has really showed great work at camp and if he strives to be successful he is only going to be able to accomplish anything he wants. This week has been such a productive week that we still have another camper who has shown great potential at Jay’s Camp. Alan F has shown that he is not only a great camper but a great actor as well. During drama, Alan has shown great enthusiasm and talent while acting. He makes all the campers laugh and shows great spirit. If he keeps this up we are going to see Alan on Broadway one day. This week has been an amazing week for the bulls, and so many campers have been doing great things. I can’t wait to see what other campers strive to have fun and be successful next week at Jay’s Camp.

ALLI’S CUPCAKES
The sixth week of camp has gone by so fast! We had a busy week with all of our Olympic activities! The Cupcakes participated in gymnastics, swimming, running, basketball, and a ton of other events. Katie L. was stellar in the running relays as she flew down the field! Way to go Katie! Madden L. also passed to blue in swimming this week! Congrats Madden! I can't wait to see everyone for another exciting week!
