Sport Camp Newsletter

Dear Parents and Children,

I can’t believe this is the eighth week and the summer is over. Each and every year I reflect on summers past. Each year I look back on the experiences of every camper and staff member and each summer I experience sadness because I have to say goodbye to another year at Jay’s Camp. This is the twenty-sixth year of Jay’s Camp and after each year I can’t wait until the next summer of fun, friendship, and good times. This year is no exception. I am committed to making next summer the best summer your children will ever experience. Each and every year I add a new and exciting piece of equipment to my camp. This year we added a state of the art miniature golf course, expanded our outdoor stadium, and upgraded our climbing tower and obstacle course. Next year we will have more special programs and activities to my camp.

Early Enrollment for 2011: On or about Sept. 15th, each Jay’s camper family will receive registration and information forms for next summer. The early discounts in October will be substantial; making Jay’s the most competitively priced camp on the North Shore. This year, the size of your deposit will reflect on your final balance which will no doubt be extremely attractive to you. Also, keep in mind that if you refer a new camper to Jay’s Camp, you will receive financial consideration. These discounts will save you a lot of money and I hope you take advantage of it. The biggest and more creative discounts will be the “October Early Discount”.

E-Mail: Please check your e-mail for special information during the year.

I wish all of my campers and their family a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2011 and I look forward to seeing all of my Jay’s Campers smiling faces next summer. Thank you for the loan of your child and for your confidence in my program. Until next year, I leave you with these thoughts:

Oh where or where has the Summer gone

I can’t believe that this week is the last.

Sports, Swimming, Drama, Dance, Special Programs and more

The Carnival was really a blast!

Day Camp, Sports Camp, Sac, Tweens and CIT’s

Are the units of this special place.

And everything we do has just one goal

To put a smile on your camper’s little face.

For four or eight weeks we bonded together

With fun and the happiest of days.

And boys and girls, know they are so special

At this amazing place called Jay’s.

With a lump in my throat

I’ll say good bye

As I wipe away my tears.

It’s only 10 months; I just can’t wait

To see you at Jay’s next year.

Fondly,

Jay

TNT Sports Camp Unit Heads

It is sad to say that this will be the final send off to all of sports camp. I want to thank all of you for an awesome summer. I hope all of you will come back next year and keep this great tradition going at Jays. There wouldn’t be a TNT if it weren’t for the great job you guys have done all year.

Sports Camp 2nd Grade

SC 2 Jon's Team X

Jon's Team X

Wednesday of this week, our whole group got to ride a giant boat made of cardboard and gorilla tape. The boat neared 6 feet in width, and over 12 feet in length. Our group joined over 25 other campers as well. Hunter R. did an excellent job this week in game world, defeating everyone in free throw basketball.

Jack T. did an awesome time this week in nookem. He had a great one-handed catch to bring a player back in, and his team ended up winning that round.

Adams 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks! --

It was another great week for the Blackhawks! Collin C showed us that

it isn't just Niemi that says no in hockey, as Max R introduced the

group to his blazing fast slap shot! Alex R made his presence known In

gameworld as he ruled the entire place! Nice job boys! See you next

summer!

Zack's Soda Pop

With camp winding down, the Soda Pop made it a week to remember. Justin S. bowled like Pete Weber, winning both rounds of bowling on Monday. As this is the last week of camp, we all must say goodbye for the year. I would like to wish all of the Soda Pop luck in their school years, and I want thank each and every one of them for a great summer. I hope to see all the boys back here next summer!

Joe's Scorpions

Joe's scorpions have done it again this week!!! This group of kids never has any problem amazing me. Paul S. in pottery made his projects so well, he was able to lend his hands to the other guys. Ryan P. came into space ball this week with one thing in mind jumping higher and making sure that ball made it in the basket every time. As always everyone did great, keep up the good work!!

Silver's Hawks

It deeply saddens me to write this last newsletter that so humbly profiles this amazing group of boys. This year at Jays has been the best of my 16 summers here at the corner of 22 and Old McHenry Road. The highlights of the week included Jack B's epic 8th week return as he knocked the ball all over the field!! Also Jonah G had a great week in center field as he made web gem after web gem out there. Way to go Jonah! Ethan R has been one of the greatest campers I have ever had and has displayed exceptional sportsmanship and great temawork; I will miss him terribly!  Ean G also came up in the clutch with his big hits in the late innings to help lead his team to victory. Eli F had a great end to the summer as he knocked his Jay's camp leading 20th home run! Wow!! A special shout out to the rest of my boys Ethan K, Eli F (the other one), Noah S, Nick W, and Ryan N as these guys truly made it a great summer for me. These group of young men really were the Boys of Summer and I can only hope that these guys had as much fun as I did. Thanks so much for the great summer fellas!!  Have a great year!

Alberts Troublemakers

The final week of Jay's Camp was one for the record books!  Everyone stepped up their game as we made The push to the end of camp. Ryan D. was once again ridiculous in hockey! He scored all four teams goals in a 4-3 overtime win! On the baseball diamond there were some monster homeruns hit.  These homeruns were hit by Jake F. and Brad R.  The combination of these two might be the most deadly 3-4, righty-lefty combination that there is! This year at Jay's Camp has been one of my most memorable yet! Watching the Troublemakers grow up has been a surreal experience for me. I really wish that everyone comes back next year and I hope to see everyone soon!

Mike Watkins

The Crew

Well Crew this is the last week here at jays and I hope you guys had as much fun as I did. Some of you I've had for two summers now and let me tell you it's been a real treat watching you grow and mature into young adults. Thank you for being such a great group. David F. was gone last week but he came back and picked up right where he left off doing great in everything we do. David was one of the fastest boys through the obstical course that I have ever seen. great speed David. I have Matthew S. on my leagues team and we are in the championship game thanks to Matthews big bat and amazing athletic ability. It's seems like no matter what sport we play Matthew is always great at it. Great job Matt. Even though I only had them for four weeks John and  Ben B. are a big part of our group. They are two of the nicest boys at camp. They always are nice to everyone and are always in to lending a hand and helping a friend. Thanks again everyone for being the best group possible. Have a good year at school boys, study hard and play hard.

K's Swagdaddys----

As week eight begins and camp comes to a close, the swagdaddies are

going out with a bang! Randall G showed us he still has some gas left

in the tank with his performance on the soccer field. He put up the

game winning goal with just seconds left on the clock. Great job

Randall! Thanks swagdaddies for another great summer at camp! Have a great school year and we'll see you next year!
