Jay’s Summer Camp  -  Week 1

“Hi” to all of our campers at Jay’s Camp for another summer filled with sun, fun, and good times!  Each and every one of our Unit Directors, Counselors, Specialists, Grounds Crew, and Bus Drivers are committed to providing the most rewarding experience for your child.  I personally look forward to welcoming all of Jay’s Campers and families. Many exciting and special programs lie ahead this summer.

News from the Pool

Parents, please make sure you change your child’s swim tag to the swimsuit they are taking to camp.  We are testing children on an ongoing basis and will continue to provide the highest quality Red Cross Certified swim program.  Other things at the pool to be excited for include games, contests, and Water Olympics!

Bussing

Jay’s Camp is one of the only camps on the North Shore that uses professional bus drivers.  There are also two of our very own counselors on every bus, a bus programmer and a safety counselor.  Please have your child ready in the morning, as our bus schedule times are consistent.  Please remind your children that for obvious safety reasons, there is no eating allowed on the bus.

Lost and Found

Each year we have a lot of lost items that are donated to charity.  Please label all clothes, hats, water bottles, etc…, with their name and unit (DC, SAC,SC, TS,CIT) so that we can return all lost items.

Special Programs for Next Week

Friday will be Red, White, and Blue Day.  Wear your most patriotic clothing in celebration of the Fourth of July.

Sports Camp will be having a Counselor vs Gladiator Program.  Day Camp will be enjoying Outer Space Day.

Special Notes

v Please keep your cell phones active during the day in case your child should have any illness or special circumstances arise and we need to contact you.

v Ice Water is provided for each child at water stations located throughout camp.

v Sun Screen is applied at least two to three times per day.

v In an attempt to keep our camper’s cool, on day’s when the temperature is 90 degrees or above each child is given the opportunity to play in sprinklers or get sprayed by a hose before they board the buses for home.

v Picture Day will be Monday, June 28th.  Please have your child wear his or her Jay’s Camp T-Shirt.  Tweens will receive their T-Shirts on Monday.

v We are beginning to take 1,2,3, or 4-week extensions for the 2nd four weeks of camp!  Special prices and discounts will be E-Mailed to you next week as well as information in our Friday, July 2nd Newsletter.

Looking forward to those smiling faces and a lot of fun and sun!

                                Jay

On this very exciting opening week of Jay’s Camp 2010, the Tween program started the summer off with a bang. On Monday the Tweens went to Kristof’s and Lucas gave counselor Dave a few driving lessons on the go-karts. Mean while Rebecca and Maggie cleaned up at the ticket games.

Tuesday the Tweens spent the day at camp, starting off the annual Newcomb tournament, and Patrick and Mike showed off their artistic abilities in the Pottery room.

Wednesday the Tweens trip to Wheeling Water Park was postponed due to the rain and instead the Tweens went to the Movies! They saw Jonah Hex and the A-Team and then had a delicious lunch at Wendy’s.

Thursday was a blast when the tweens had their first round of bowling leagues and their first cookout. Joey got his first strike of the season and Thomas wowed everyone with the day’s high score of 119! Team 5 currently leads the pack in what promises to be a closely fought bowling season. Finally on Friday the Tweens will finish the week with an exciting trip to Gameworks.
