Tweens Camp Newsletter

Dear Parents and Children,

I can’t believe this is Week #3 and the first four weeks are almost over. It seems like yesterday that I saw all of Jay’s campers for the first time getting off of the buses with their smiling faces! We have one more fantastic week coming up. Listed below are the openings for the second four weeks. I hope you take advantage of our special pricing for our one, two, three, or four week extensions, whether three days or five days per week.

Next week:

Monday 7/12: Day Camp Talent Show 12:30 sharp at our Jay’s Stage. Parents, please park across the street or in our rear parking lot.

Tuesday 7/13: Sports Camp and SAC will be taking a trip to Kristoff’s Fun Park. Each camper can bring between 5.00 and 7.00 in quarters (in a zip-lock bag) for treats and extra games. Jay’s camp will pay the entrance fee, supply transportation, and supply hot or cold lunch for those on our camp lunch program. We will be returning to camp by 2:45 for popsicles and then board the buses for home.

Wednesday 7/14: Our famous WILD WEST DAY at Jay’s Camp! Please, please begin sending old toys, games, book, or other items with your child on his or her bus. We need a lot so send them ASAP! Jay’s Camp will be transformed into a town of the 1890’s with a gold rush, pony rides, general store, dance hall and many more fun activities!

Thursday 7/15: SAC Performances at 10:00am sharp. Meet at Jay’s stage for an art and pottery fair, dance recital, gymnastics, the Willy Wonka play, and a slideshow of your daughters’ experience at Jay’s Camp.

Lost &Found: We have quite a few items which have not been claimed. All lost and found articles are displayed daily outside the pool fence. If you are missing anything, please remind your child to look for it.

Tweens Camp

The Tweens started week #3 on Tuesday after a long holiday weekend with a fun filled day at Jay’s Camp. It was scorching hot outside and by far the highlight of the day was swimming. Eric showed off his skills with a hockey stick in Jay’s Stadium, Brian crushed all the competition in ping pong at Game world, and Mike K, was a stand-out performer in this week’s installment of the annual Newcomb Tournament.

Wednesday was very exciting because the Tweens went to Six Flags! Tyler and Ryan went on the most rides of anyone hitting what must have been every roller coaster! Patrick, Corey, and Austin helped Councilor Alyssa get over her terrible fear or roller coasters and convinced her to go on the Batman and the Raging Bull. Vania took home numerous prizes as proof of his skill at the Six Flags games, most notable a giant Tazmanian Devil!! Then everyone got soaked as we all had to line up in the downpour that hit just as we were getting ready to leave.

After all the excitement at Six Flags, the Tweens had a more relaxing day doing their weekly bowling leagues and then having a cookout at the forest preserve. Garrett blew away all the competition bowling an astounding 147 and even getting a Turkey (three strikes in a row)! The Tweens will finish out week #3 with a trip to Wheeling Water Park.
