Day Camp Newsletter

Dear Parents and Children,

I can’t believe that the first four weeks are over! I am very sad to say goodbye to all of the boys and girls who are leaving on Friday. I am very happy though that many campers will remain at Jay’s for six or eight weeks.

Looking Forward to Next Year

Each and every year parents come and ask me “Jay, how long are you going to run Jay’s? After all, you have been here for 26 years.” The answer is simple, Jay’s camp is my life. Each year I look forward to investing myself in my camp. I gain fulfillment from seeing smiles on my camper’s faces. I consider myself very lucky to be able to do something which I enjoy.

Next year, I will do everything in my power to make our fee structure among the most competitive of all camps on the North Shore. Please take advantage of the first early discount in October. By sending in a small deposit, you will receive a large, early discount. The October discount will only be offered one time and it will be the largest discount you can receive.

Referral Discount

Jay is the only private camp which offers a discount for referring new campers. A certificate will be mailed to you in October. The more children you refer, the larger the discount. This is my way of lessoning the financial burden to you in these tough economic times.

I am looking forward to the next four weeks. There will be many new and exciting programs for the second four weeks. Jay’s Carnival and Jay’s Olympics are just a few of the exciting programs awaiting your child for the second four weeks. We will also be asking your child to bring a clean white t-shirt for tye-dying.

Lost and Found

There still remains quite a few items which have gone unclaimed from our lost and found. Please feel free to come to camp and look for your child’s lost articles or you may send a note and we will do our best to locate it.

                                  Until next week,

                                         Jay

DAY CAMP NEWSLETTER – WEEK FOUR

Dear Day Campers, Parents and Families,

What a busy week it was in Day Camp! Along with all of our regular activities, the Day Campers also had a fantastic time at our Parent Day and also on Wild West Day! It was a great way to end a fabulous first session at Jay’s.

I am so unbelievably proud of all my Day Campers for putting on such amazing performances during Parent Day. The children worked so hard at perfecting their dances and skits. All of the groups did a fantastic job on the stage. A special thank you to all of the parents and family members who came to our Parent Day on Monday. We loved having you at camp, and we hope that you enjoyed your afternoon with your children. The Day Campers loved showing you a little bit of what we do at camp each day, and we thank you for participating in the program.

On Wednesday was Jay’s annual Wild West Day. The children had a super fun time searching for gold and exchanging their gold for Jay’s money. The Day Campers then used their “money” to buy items at the old fashioned General Store and to buy a treat at the Saloon. We loved visiting the Barber and the Salon to get our hair, makeup, and nails done. We also were able to get tattoos! All of the Day Campers had a great time!

I am so sad to say goodbye to all of my Day Campers who are leaving after the first session. I had an amazing time this summer getting to know your children, and we really have had so much fun together! I hope to see all of your children back at Jay’s next summer for more fun!

Next week….get excited for Dr. Seuss week! Day Camp will be reading lots of fun Dr. Seuss stories and we will also be going on a silly scavenger hunt to search for the cat in the hat! There will be lots of other fun surprises too!

As always parents, please feel free to contact me at camp if you have any questions or concerns!!

DC BOYS – Kindergarten

NICK’S BLUE ROCKETS

These last two weeks of Jay's camp have been very eventful. We had our crazy olympics last Friday, and our carnival day Wednesday of this week. There were some outstanding performances last week in the crazy olympics with the egg toss champions Mark S and Brandon F.  These two gentlemen won the competition throwing a raw egg further than anyone else back and forth. After our talent show performances on Monday of this week, the children in my group wanted to show their parents how impressive they are at hockey in Jay's arena. As always Jake L was a defensive force at goalie, not letting anything past like a brick wall. Going back to the crazy olympics there is a very difficult challenge called the cracker whistle. This is a very hard task when whistling alone is a challenge, but Micah A didn't let that stop him. He ate the crackers a whistled before anyone had even finished chewing. Another 1st place brought to the Blue Rockets. David K had a very impressive performance in crazy olympics last week. a tough competitor in all the challenges he participated in. David finished top 3 in both competitions and amazed a lot of us. Way to go David!

DC GIRLS – Kindergarten

JORI’S BUNNIES

What a great week we had to end the first half of camp! Our parent day on Monday went great and the girls did a fantastic job during their dance. They practiced so hard for it and they were very excited to show it off! On Wednesday we had another special day, Wild West day. Because it was so hot this day, the girls got to swim extra along with doing some fun Wild West activities. They were able to “buy” gifts, get tattoos, get their make-up and nails done, and many other exciting activities. Along with these special days, we continued playing sports and games. Lauren R. did an outstanding job this week in soccer! She was flying down the field kicking the ball! Great job Lauren! These past four weeks flew by, and I am very excited for the next four weeks to have even more fun!

DC BOYS – 1ST GRADE

RYAN’S BLACKHAWKS

As the last week of the first comes to a close we have seen much progress in the campers. Alec L made a very nice book cover for his book this week in art class! Lorenzo P scored two goals to lead his hockey team to the victory! Jack P scored three goals in soccer yesterday getting his first hat trick of the week. We are all looking forward to the next coming session. Great job this week!

COLLIN’S COYOTES

Wow campers we have already finished our fourth week at Jay’s Camp!! This week has been such an exciting week for the coyotes. This week we had another new rock climber. Sean G did an amazing job, with reaching all the way to the top. This was Sean’s first time reaching the top, and he has been improving so much and becoming more successful in every activity such as in rock climbing. After Sean reached the top, his twin brother Josh G showed his amazing talent through music class. This week Josh did a great job in music, he played every instrument with awesome rhythm, and he sang like he was a professional. Josh has really been showing amazing interest in music and if he can keep this up he is going to be the next American idol. Also this week a new soccer star was born. Ryan L did an amazing job in soccer this week. He not only showed good dribbling skills, but he showed great passing skills, and most of all Ryan scored a goal!! Ryan is becoming a very great athlete, and it is amazing to see how much he has improved from the first week.  The coyotes have really been an amazing group up to now, and each and every single one of them have shown their true talents, and how much they are having fun at camp. I already can’t wait for next week and I am excited to see each camper do their personal best at Jay’s Camp.

DC GIRLS – 1ST GRADE

ALLI’S ANIMALS

Our fourth week of camp has been awesome! I can't believe the first session is already over! Wild West Day was this week and it was a ton of fun! The Animals got to search for gold, get tattoos, and even get their nails done! In pottery, this week, Ashley G. painted a beautiful and colorful butterfly! Natalie H. showed off her dance moves in dance this week, and Katie L. has been working really hard on her front float during swimming! Great job girls! I'm so proud of all of you! This first session has been a blast and I am going to miss all of the girls who are leaving after this week!
